GNM also known as General Nursing Midwifery. It is a Three and a half-year diploma course in Nursing. Students who want to pursue this should have completed class 12th in Science background. The course includes six months of compulsory internship. It is the main stepping stone to make a bright career in the field of Nursing. GNM graduates can kick start their professional journey immediately after completing the course in any Government or Private Hospital or Clinic.
A nurse should possess demonstrative skills and have excellent communication skills too. Students wishing to become a nurse should have strong organizational skills, management skills and abundance patience. GNM is a basic Nursing course which trains the students to efficiently function in a hospital environment.
In India, The fees for this course vary from college to college. The admissions are done purely on the basis of entrance exam and merit.
Pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination with 40% marks in any stream.
Foreign nationals: (including Nepali, Bangladeshi, Bhutani, and Tibetan refugee) For admission to Diploma Nursing (GNM) program candidates should have qualified 12th standard obtained by association of Indian University/ Institution/ Council or equivalent.
Students shall have Board (KSDNEB) examination at the end of each year. Minimum pass marks shall be 50% in each of the theory and practical separately.
Class tests will be conducted periodically to evaluate the student’s performance in each subject. The average marks will be sent to the Board (KSDNEB) as internal assessment, for both theory and practical.
A model exam will be conducted before the Board (KSDNEB) examination.
